If you want to make big changes in your life, no matter what it is, you have to have love for yourself. This is harder than it sounds because how are we meant to love ourselves when we want so much change at the same time.
If we want to make changes and transformations in our life it has to come from a place of love and not from a place of hate. This makes growth so much easier because;
· We have belief in ourselves that we can achieve anything.
· We believe we deserve this in our life.
· And because we love ourselves enough to want the best for ourselves.
Having self-acceptance allows you to be who you are freely and with full acceptance, the good, the bad and the ugly. If we are comfortable with who we are then we are able to form better relationships and experiences that fulfil us and make us truly happy.
Research has shown that when we don’t rate ourselves either good or bad we have a higher level of psychological wellbeing and move into lives of success and happiness.
Self-acceptance is all about being compassionate and forming a more loving relationship with ourselves. Here is 5 tips to build self-acceptance:
1. Be compassionate to yourself, when you are talking to yourself pretend you are speaking to your younger daughter or son. What you say to yourself is what you believe yourself to be, this is extremely important when trying to achieve anything in life.
2. Be forgiving; practice self- forgiveness, you can write yourself a message forgiving all the mistakes you have made or you can even practice it in a meditation.
3. Learn from mistakes, adopt a growth mindset and remind yourself that everything Is just a lesson.
4. Take risks! The more we take chances on unfamiliar things the more our self-acceptance will grow. This sounds scary but so many people go by in life “playing it safe” all so they can avoid humiliation or judgement, but this will never lead us to where we want to be in life.
5. Goal setting can be a great way of achieving self-acceptance. Setting up realistic goals allows you to feel a sense of accomplishment and this therefore not only a boost for self-acceptance, it’s also a pathway to personal growth.
Self-esteem and self-acceptance can be a deep rooted issue blocking many of us from reaching our full potential. You’ve got it in you to be fabulous you just need to believe in yourself first.
